DEMO DERBY RULES - Any year cars
Mix iron 22in hump plates 77 older/78 newer 22in hump plates Shows.,no 4x4s or Hearse , 03 newer can change stock cradle to steel no Chrysler or truck cradles.No hump plates on 1977 older wagons or Imperials.
- All drivers must have state I.D. Under 18 must have parent's signature.
- Driver is responsible for any actions of pit members!!
- Driver required to have full face helmet with chin strap.
- NO HOT-RODDING IN PIT AREA!
- A Driver's meeting will be held 15 TO 30 minutes before derby starts or will NOT run! - Track owner and promoter are not responsible for anything left at the track or fairgrounds such as parts or tools. - All injuries MUST be reported to officiating crew BEFORE you leave the event!
GENERAL PREPARATION
1. All chrome molding, trim, plastic, fiberglass, and taillights must be removed.
2. Wiper arms and assemblies, door handles, and antennas must be removed.
3. Sedan rear seats and station wagon rear seats decking must be removed.
4. Driver's seat may replaced and secured to floor pan. 5. Glass windows must be removed and cars must be swept clean.
FUEL SYSTEM
1. Stock fuel tanks must be removed.
2. All-steel fuel cells or boat tanks must be used (NO plastic tanks). Tanks must be 8 gallons maximum.
3. Tanks must be securely mounted to floor or roll cage.
4. Fuel-injected cars must use high pressure fuel line. Double clamps on rubber lines recommended.
5. Fuel lines must be inside car not underneath.
6. Auxiliary fuel pumps are allowed, but must be securely mounted in cars.
7. FUEL LEAKAGE OF ANY KIND WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION!
BATTERIES AND WIRING
1. Only one type of auto battery is allowed.
2. Battery must be securely fastened to passenger floor.
3. Wiring to motor from inside of car may be run through the firewall.
FRAME & WIRING
1. No skid plates attached to frame or cross member.
2. Only top frame seams from the wall forward may be welded.
3. RE-WELDING OF ANY OTHER FRAMES SEAM - no filling holes.
4. PATCHING RUST HOLES IN FRAME IS OK. PATCH MUST BE NO THICKER THAN FRAME.
5. Bodies may be bolted down to frame - 5/8 bolt size maximum. You may weld one washer to each body mount hole on frame.
6. Front frame may be angled/tilted.
7. One body bolt may be added to each frame rail. If car has stock body bolts you may add two body bolts to each side.
8. Any auto bumper can be stuffed or built - must appear to be a bumper.
9. Bumper may be welded solid or brackets may be welded to frame if you don't have bumper shock tubes inside, but you cannot have both.
10. Bumper height from ground to bottom of bumper may be no lower than 14" and no higher than 22".
11. Bumper shock tubes may be 15" MAX; if we can't see in your frame you may be ask to cut holes in frame!
12. NO CONCRETE!
13. 6' TALL MAXIMUM LENGTH CORE SUPPORT SPACER ALLOWED.
14. Humps may be reinforced with a contour piece of 1/4" x 22" maximum length plate (plates must be fit to original arch of the frame and must be placed on outside only - one per side) - only on '80 and newer cars; 22" hump plate for '76 and older sedan cars; no hump plates on 1976 and older wagons OR Imperials. 15. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ON CONVERSIONS OR REPAIRS CALL FOR INFO. 16. Radiators must remain in factory position. 17. Radiators must be held in place with wire, ratchet straps, seat belts, or banding wire. 18. Angle iron or plate may be used on top of core support. This may be welded in place and cannot 32", not to 3", wide 3/8". 19. Coolers must be fastened to car floor board or dash or in ice cooler.
NO RUBBER LINES OR HOSE CLAMPS!
CAGE
1. A single maximum 5" diameter bar may be installed up and over roof of the car; bars may not be angled.
2. Over the roof bar may be attached to bar behind straight down to floor, can be attached to frame in this spot only - will be enforced! Can be attached to rear window bar only. You can have 3rd down bar to frame on drivers side door only not touching the box. This is for driver protection.
3. KICKERS are allowed as long as your dist brace isn't connected or welded to frame or trans; either - not both.
4. Fuel tanks are allowed. 5. Fuel tanks protectors may be welded to firewall only - not bolted to frame! 6. FOUR LEGS are allowed on cage, but two front down bars can't touch boxes on Fords. 7. Must have 10 x 10 hole in trunk lid.
DRIVETRAIN
1. Engine and trans mounts need to be secured with chain or wire, bolted or welded. One chain on each side ''MAX''. 2. Altering mounts is allowed. But must not strengthen any part of the or frame. Trans protector can be bolted to crossmember, but only two bolts ''MAX''. 3. Engine/trans changes are okay! 4. Any auto type rear ends maybe used - 8 lug max. 5. ANY DRIVESHAFT IS OKAY. 6. Air cleaners must be left over carburetor. 7. Exhaust must exit straight up or through hood or under car. 8. All mufflers and catalytic converters must be removed. 9. Any fan must be covered by hood. 10. Distributor protectors are okay. 11. Engine cradles are allowed, can be attached to distributor protector. If you don't have engine cradle you may have four 3 x 3 plates on frame anywhere firewall forward!! 12. On used cars you fix spot where bent or bent down frame and fix with 3 x 3 plate eight places MAX. No plating a clean, non-bent frame. Plus four firewall forward so two on each frame rail - eight MAX on used cars!
DOORS, TRUNK & HOOD
1. All doors may be secured shut using weld, wire or chain. 2. Doors may be welded solid - not inside doors just outer!
3. Drivers door is recommended - you can have drivers door protection. Plating drivers door is okay.
4. Mud screens are allowed in windshield area.
5. You can wire, chain, or weld trunk and hood in no more then eight spots.
6. Trunk can be welded solid. Must have two 8 x 8 inspection holes in trunk lid - one on each side of trunk lid.
7. If welding trunk lid to bumper 16" long, 4" wide, 1/4" thick steel strap, chain or wire.
8. You may wire, chain, or seat belt hood down in six spots.
9. Trunk lid may be beat down, quarter may be beat in. No re-welding new seams. Speaker may be beat down or removed.
10. NO WEDGES AT ALL!
11. NO lower than 14" from ground to bottom of bumper. 12. Pinging body panels is allowed.
13. Rear 1/3 panels must be up on fresh cars.
14. You run any tire.
15. USED CARS are welcome only 3 x 3 to fix, no thicker than 1/4", no more than eight spots fixed on frame.
SUSPENSION & STEERING
1. Suspension doesn't have bounce. Welding A-arms solid is okay - 2" strap max.
2. All air shocks must be cut!
3. Coil springs my be replaced for height.
4. Tie-Rods and upper rear end control arms may be altered!
5. Value stem protectors are OKAY!
6. All wheel weights must be removed! 7. All thread is okay for shocks - no thicker than 1", 08.98 and up can change back from watts to 1997 older, no over welding or you will be cutting. Call if you don't understand - thank you.
BONE STOCK HEAT ('78's and newer cars only)
1. Weld driver's door and one bar behind seat; don't have to have them, but recommended; and rear end gears. That is the only welding you can do! Bumper can be welded or rebolted, but no adding any steel - bumpers must be '78 or newer - can change, but must be '80 or newer.
2. Must take stock tank out and replace with boat tank or after market tanks. No plastic tanks. After market fuel pumps okay. Electric fuel okay, but must be covered.
3. You may replace shifter.
4. Any tires. NO TRACTOR OR SKID STEER TIRES! 5. Moving battery to passenger floor is recommended - only one tip car battery.
6. Chaining doors, trunk, and hood all in six spots.
7. Trunk and hood must open for inspection, 10 x 10 hole in hood and trunk.
8. No changing body mounts at all - I don't care if they're rusty.
9. Must have seat belt. Chain or bar straight across don't have to be, but recommended, can be behind seat to hold up seat.
10. Airbag must be removed.
11. Drivetrain Chevy-to-Chevy, Ford-to-Ford, Chrysler-to-Chrysler.
12. Remember weld only bumpers. Bumpers may be chained or welded. Motor maybe chained. This is it on welding - no more.
LIMITED STOCK BUILD. No '76 older wagons, Imperials, suicides or galaxies.
(motors and rear ends BRACED REAR ENDS OKAY. NO EXTREME CRADLES)
13. Slider drive shafts OKAY. Homemade okay.
14. BODY MOUNTS MY BE CHANGED 5/8 BOLT MAX ONLY USE 3 X 3 PLATES. No welding to frame.
15. Dist protector okay. Cradle for motor mounts pulling protector okay.
16. Can change bumper to any year.
17. Unlimited #9 wire.
18. Any tires.
19. Stock control A-arms.
20. No welding at all on frame - just bumpers; you can hard nose
stock bumpers shocks only for make of car.
21. Only weld driver's door solid. Other doors two 6' x 2' on each door seam - no welds on trunk or hood. MAY CREASE TRUNK LID ONLY.
22. Front frame may be tipped at boxes only. Only 4" spacers in rad support.
GENERAL RULES
1. CARS MUST BE DECORATED IN GOOD TASTE.
2. RECOMMENDED THAT DRIVER'S DOOR BE PAINTED WHITE.
3. DRIVER AND PIT CREW MUST SIGN WAIVER/RELEASE OF LIABILITY FORM BEFORE ENTERING TRACK.
4. ALL CARS MUST PASS INSPECTION BEFORE COMPETING IN DERBY.
THESE ARE THE RULES - FOLLOW THEM. INSPECTION WILL BE ENFORCED!!!! TSP CALLS ARE FINAL - YOU MAY NOT PROTEST ANY CAR AFTER DRIVER'S MEETING - SPEAK UP AT DRIVER'S MEET IF YOU SEE SOMETHING WE DON'T!! THANK YOU!
